Planning tool for discontinued articles project

My Role: Business Analyst, UX, System Design, Integration design

The project was building a new business process and a planning Tool for discontinued articles for a major international retailer, eliciting and managing business requirements. I was also involved in UX, GUI design, wireframing, interface architecture, data modelling, and BAT test management.

Legacy store system transformation program

My Role: Business Analyst, UX, Integration design

As a Business Analyst and Solution Architect for major retailer I was involved in creating processes, requirements, and high-level system design for an ancient major legacy retail store system. This meant involvement in several large projects as well as supporting the line organisation with requirements analysis and management as well as high level solution design and test support.

The system was in a major transition program where parts of the system should be replaced by new systems/applications and the remainder should be upgraded from old technology to new, for hardware as well as software. The system was based on a Pascal framework and forms, web, and handheld device applications that should be replaced by new HTML5/CSS applications using webservices (C++). Database design to support the applications would also be needed. The system had numerous integrations to other systems, and these would have to be kept, revised, replaced or redesigned.

The work involved requirement elicitation and management, coordination with surrounding systems and projects, solution design and documentation, as well as support to users, developers, and testers. The system used agile development and coordination with the four agile teams and test teams was an integral part of my daily work. I also organised BAT testing.

Methods and techniques: SCRUM, Workshops, Requirements elicitation, Requirements management, Business case, System architecture, Integration design, Enterprise architecture, BAT test, Test support, BAT Test result evaluation.

Request Portal for Test Environment provisioning and deployment automation - project

My Role: Business Analyst, Integration design

As a Business Analyst for major retailer I was involved in creating processes, requirements, and service offering specifications for a pre-study to create a Request Portal for Test Environment provisioning and deployment automation.

I was also supporting the project manager in building business cases, tool evaluation, and discussions with proposed vendors, users, and tool teams.

The work involved evaluation of systems for Requesting Services, modelling Services, Change management, repository configuration, and orchestration from two large vendors. I was also supporting the architecture team in designing the architecture for the full automation of test environments from infrastructure, platform and middleware deployment to application deployment, network configuration, and loading of test data.

Methods and techniques: Workshops, Requirements elicitation, Requirements management, Business case, System architecture, Enterprise architecture, ITIL.

Supply integration systems - line organisation

My Role: Business Analyst, Solution Architect, Integration design

I worked as a Solution Architect for several Supplying integration systems and performed requirements review and solution design in the development team for several integration systems supporting the Supplying Services for a major international retail company.

I focused on change analysis, solution design, integration interface design, development process enhancements, and problem investigations. I was also driving plans and suggestions for future enhancements for these systems, and supported my team manager, the customer, and the development team with my knowledge of the corporation system landscape, and business and development processes.

Methods and techniques: Oracle, .NET, Agile and non-agile. Requirements Management, ITIL Tools: TOAD, HP ALM.

Legacy Internal Orders system line organisation

My Role: Business Analyst

Business analyst in a development and maintenance team, analysing IT requirements for a large legacy internal order system for a major international retailer. Eliciting requirements, suggesting solutions, and defining interfaces to surrounding systems.

SME on internal order system, corporate information landscape, and requirements management. I defined the needed requirement level for this large legacy product with high reliability requirements, and initiated requirement management, considering Cost/benefit of requirement handling vs. documatation needs. As activity leader during a technical platform upgrade I created a vision document, requirement management plan, disaster recovery plan, and produced documents to comply with the corporation’s documentation requirements for platforms (Supplementary specification, Product Description, System models etc.).

When needed I defined requirements for incoming CRs and analysed them. I also did problem analysis, created Test Cases, and analysed defects. As a member of the SCRUM team I was active in process development for Maint. and dev. teams.

Methods and techniques: Oracle, .NET, Agile and non-agile. Requirements Management, Vision, SCRUM Tools: TOAD, HP ALM.

Customs systems

My Role: Business Analyst, Integration design

Analysing Business, and IT requirements for several customs systems for a major international retailer. Eliciting requirements, suggesting solutions, and defining interfaces to surrounding systems. SME on customs systems and corporation information landscape and requirements management.

In parallel to project work I also supported further enhancement and development in the customs systems as a business analyst and lead the requirements management for those systems.

North American Customs project.

My Role: Business Analyst, Integration design, Facilitator, PM support

Analysing IT requirements for customs systems for a major international retailer. Eliciting requirements, suggesting solutions, and defining interfaces to surrounding systems. SME on customs systems, corporation information landscape, and requirements management. Key Participant in a project to introduce third party software for operational customs handling in US and CA for the corporation. A long-drawn project starting in 2006 was finalized in 2012. Introduced in the project in 2009 I worked with teambuilding, facilitating goal definitions, requirements elicitation and management, and solution suggestions, as well as supporting the project leader and project members. The latter became a significant factor in finalising a project where complications both of technical factors, internal politics, and personal bias had troubled the issues for years.

Russian customs system integration project

My Role: Business Analyst, Solution Architect, Integration design

Working as a Business analyst/Solution architect in a project to integrate a coming Russian customs system with the system landscape of a major international retailer. Together with the customer I defined the data need of the new system and defined the interfaces and future requirements to supply the coming Russian Customs system with data from the corporation. The basic integration interfaces where delivered in August 2012; another part of the delivery was requirements for further development. I was a major positive influence on the project with my knowledge within the corporate system landscape as well as the Customs area. I facilitated requirements workshops, defined and managed requirements and integration interfaces as well as created an architecture for the corporate integration point preparing for future integrations to other systems.
